SYNOPSIS:

Basil Brazil is a detective with nothing to detect. After his father died, Basil quit his lifeguard job and took over Brazil Detective Agency in Atlantic City, managing its security guards. But that overwhelmed him, and the agency died. Now, when not hiding in his houseboat at Marty’s Marina, Basil takes long swims through the bay. Then a friend asks him to locate his runaway wife, and a woman wants to know why her husband died beneath the boardwalk. Basil’s search for the truth winds through the natural beauty of the South Jersey shore to the ugliness of the sex trade in a town where everything’s a gamble.
