LOG LINE:
Based on the true story of a 1940‘s minor league baseball star and his life after the ball field.

SYNOPSIS:

Harold Price, born during the Great Depression, was like most boys in the 1940’s who dreamed of playing baseball. Despite the lack of interest from his family, he pursued his talent, determined to beat the odds and live that dream. He could hit home runs and he could catch. Luck was with him the day he hit one of those homers. A scout signed him and off he went, leaving his small town and uncaring family. He played five years on minor league teams. The fifth year brought him a contract offer from the infamous Branch Rickey, requiring him to report to a Canadian team, along with Jackie Robinson. But after five years of playing on the road, Harold had married his high school sweetheart and they’re about to have their first child. Baseball players in the 1940’s did not make enough money to support a family. Harold refuses the offer and is banned from playing professional baseball.

Harold has other abilities. He builds a house for his wife and sets tile for his father-in- law. He’s a gambler, too. He plays cards for money and wins most of the time. Harold is a survivor.

Harold’s son is born in 1955 and like all former baseball players, he looks to see if the child has the same potential he once had. When Harold Jr. gets his chance to play in the minor leagues, Harold feels satisfaction for training his son.

Harold Jr. plays for two years and he, too, gets married and falls into the realm of responsibility. Harold Jr.’s grandson, at age 4, pitches, throws, and catches like Harold Sr. and Jr. once did and the dream continues.

The script ends with a short history of the minor leagues and a dedication to Pop Lloyd, one of the great forgotten baseball heroes. Many original photos are available to compliment this script.
